Eye Makeup Guide — Techniques for Every Eye Shape
Eyes are the most expressive feature of the face. The right eye makeup technique can open up the gaze, visually enlarge the eyes, and even correct their shape. But different eye shapes require different approaches.
Eye Shapes and How to Enhance Them
Almond eyes: the most versatile shape. Almost any technique works — from basic mascara to dramatic smoky eyes. Lucky you! Round eyes: elongate with liner extending past the outer corner. Avoid thick lower liner — it makes eyes rounder. Hooded eyes: apply eyeshadow slightly above the crease when eyes are open. A thin liner on the upper lid. Monolid: graphic liner and bold shadows work exceptionally well. Avoid too much shimmer on the lid. Deep-set eyes: light shimmer on the lid to bring eyes forward. Avoid dark shadows on the lid itself.
Before eye makeup — always start with a primer. Even a simple light concealer patted onto the lid makes a huge difference in longevity and color payoff.

Matte medium-depth shades applied just above the natural crease. Avoid shimmer directly on the lid — it can make hooded eyes look heavier.
Light shimmer or highlighter in the inner corner, white or nude liner on the waterline, and curl your lashes before mascara.
