Brow Makeup for Beginners — How to Shape and Fill Them Yourself
Brows are the first thing we teach in the "Be Your Own Makeup Artist" course — because brows are 50% of your look. Well-groomed brows open the eyes, define the face, and make you look polished even without foundation.
Finding the Right Shape
Three key points: start (straight up from the wing of the nose), arch (diagonally through the pupil), end (from the wing of the nose through the outer eye corner). Mark these three points first — then connect them.
Mark your 3 guide points with a pencil before you start drawing. This is much easier than free-handing and ensures symmetry.
Brow Products for Beginners
Pencil — easiest control, easiest to fix. Powder — most natural effect. Liquid liner — most precise, hardest to use.
Step-by-Step Technique
- Brush brows upward with a spoolie
- Mark 3 guide points
- Draw the lower edge of the brow
- Fill with short strokes (not a solid line!)
- Blend slightly with your spoolie or finger
- Set with clear gel
"Brows are the most important and trickiest part of makeup. But with practice — it takes under 3 minutes." — Valeria Kushinova

Pencil gives easier control and is simpler to correct. Powder gives a more natural effect but requires a brush and slightly more skill.
Use the 3 guide points (start, arch, end) and mark them before drawing. Also helps to look at both brows simultaneously rather than focusing on one.
